Grant Opportunity!

We got this news a couple of days ago:

" Congratulations on being chosen as a 5/5/5 family for the month of January!  We are excited to be working with you and for you!!!  Donations will be collected from January 6th through February 5th.  All the money will be collected by Reece's Rainbow, and will be tax-deductible.  On February 5th, the money will be divided equally and distributed into the 5 FSP's. This grant opportunity is a little different than a typical grant, in that we won't know the total each family is going to get until the end of the month. "

This is something fairly new that Reece's Rainbow is doing - featuring five families each month who are close to travel.  Even more exciting for me is that one of the boys (Lance) that I advocated for on my blog HERE  and  HERE has a family and they are also one one of the five families who will receive a portion of this grant!

You may meet this month's five families on the RR 5/5/5 blog HERE  or read more about the grant  HERE   Just a little from many goes a long way!  If you'd like to contribute to the grant that will be divided between the the five families you may do so on the links above or in the 5/5/5 box in the right hand border of this page.  Thank you for your care for the orphans and for helping their families to get them home.

Valentines and Chinese New Year gifts at our auction!

We are hosting an auction on Facebook to help with our family's traveling expenses. All items are brand new, never worn or used. It is a great time to pick up a Valentine gift or something special for your Chinese New Year celebration. Bidding will go until Saturday, January 31. Paid for items will be shipped promptly the following week to allow plenty of time to arrive for those two holidays. All funds will be used for traveling expenses for our family to bring Pat home.

Bidding rules:

1. Starting bid is specified in the description of each item, please bid in whole dollar amounts. You will place your bid by making a comment on the photo.

2. If item is to be mailed postage is additional. I will estimate it as close to actual postage as my little scale will allow.

3. If we are not "friends" on Facebook, please include your email in your bid post or send it via private message so I can notify you of winning bids and any shipping fees if applicable.

4. Unless you are local and I will see you soon, please pay promptly via Paypal after you've received your ending total. Payments should be sent via Paypal through our Reece's Rainbow tax deductible account.  The link is found in the right side border of this page.

5. Let me know immediately after you've paid, and include your mailing address.  Reece's Rainbow doesn't automatically notify me and never includes any addresses.
What will you find?  This and more:  Chinese silks, parasols, jade, pearls, fans, scarves, jewelry (including scripture and adoption themed) hair clips, and  kids art kits.

Thank you! Match Exceeded!

You blessed our socks off!  Our account received nearly twice as much as we needed to receive our full match!  You sent in $4855, and Hand in Hand matched $2500 making the total grant $7355! This will go such a long ways towards our traveling expenses, and we thank you so very much! We've "tagged his bag" with the names of those who helped us to make and exceed our goal for the matching grant! Is this the coolest suitcase you ever saw or what?

Tag His Bag!

A few weeks ago we received the wonderful news of a $2500 matching grant from Hand in Hand.  We've gotten an update on our account reporting the first donation towards our goal.  To make this more fun  I've found a way to take ALL of you who donate towards the matching funds with us to get Pat! How?  By tagging his bag!

As most of you know, two of our girls were adopted from this same orphanage and they came with nothing but the clothes they were wearing and a small picture book.  I'm starting to purchase clothes for Pat, and this is the suitcase that his things will go in.  Everyone who donates (any amount) towards our matching funds will have their name "tagged" on his bag.  How fun would it be to see LOTS of names on here?  Let's cover it up!

How does the grant work?  Hand in Hand will match dollar for dollar up to $2500.  I will be brutally honest with you and say that we very much need this grant. If you would like to help us meet our $2500 goal, please send your donation made payable to "Hand in Hand Christian Adoption" and postmarked by December  11.  For tax purposes please include our name on the OUTSIDE of the envelope only - do not put our name on the check itself.  Send to:

If you have any questions concerning this grant you may contact Hand in Hand Christian Adoption, Inc. They can be reached at 913-248-5015 or by email at handinhandadopt@gmail.com .

Thank you for your generosity towards Pat and our family.  We appreciate it more than you will ever know.

Updated with donations to 11/21/2014 - Thank you!
